Cowley Road Carnival is Oxfordshire’s largest multi-cultural arts event, in 2013 it attracted a diverse audience of 35,000 people. It has a history of working with up and coming urban artists in all disciplines.
In this project 4 different artists have started a dialogue between urban and contemporary arts practice, graphic design and illustration. All artists have a connection to Oxford – Ged Palmer, Custom Design and Lettering and Kleiner Shames, illustration and silk screen, both started their careers as graffitti artists on the Cowley Road. Neill Cameron is a graphic novelist with Phoenix Comics as well as being artist in residence for the Story Museum, and Nicola Armitage delivers projects for Film Oxford as well as having a studio right here at the Old Fire Station.
This exhibition showcases the artists own practice, and the products of their collaboration will be on sale in our shop. All proceeds will go towards supporting Cowley Road Carnival 2014.
