Chris Oakley has worked with moving and digital images since the mid 1990s, alongside installation and print works, and has exhibited widely throughout Europe and beyond.

His interest in these is formats is led by their predominant use as mass media, which lends them unique potential to use in opposition to mainstream narratives.

His work explores the ways in which technology modifies our experiences of the world; how it acts as a mediating and transforming influence on our consciousness. He explores a world where our life experience is validated through recording, editing, and shared as digital content to achieve a social value. We author our memories and engineer narratives required to compete for attention in a constant present tense, where history is elastic and is constantly remoulded.
