John is an artist teacher with a postgraduate diploma in education and master’s in fine art whose practice takes a meta approach to elemental aspects of the processes and practices of photography such as time, light, surface and gesture and uses these to explore personal thoughts and experiences.

Using time based, material and digital formats, often mixed together, John interrogates his relationship with the constant tension between the present and the distant. Influenced by art theory, philosophy and science John takes a research led, project based approach to each body of work and each project often becomes the springboard for the next.
