Booking the space
It is usually easiest to email us– this makes it easier for us to prioritise requests on a “first come, first served” basis. Our email is bookings@oldfirestation.org.uk
If you would rather talk on the phone, please call 01865 263980.
Or you can come into the building to talk to us in person. You can just turn up – there will usually be someone here who can help. Or if you want to make sure someone can be here to meet you, call, or email in advance.
Paying for the space
You can pay by card, online or over the phone.
We will send you an invoice for the cost of the booking.
What else is there?
There are chairs and tables, a flipchart and speaker that can connect to a standard small headphones socket.
Looking after the rooms
We’ll send you a contract with some of things to think about when using our rooms.
For example people should not wear stilettos or bring glass containers into the rooms. This is because we have special dance flooring which might be damaged.
You’ll need to leave the space clean and tidy.
Seating in the theatre
Sometimes, the theatre will have seats set up in a particular way for another event.
This might limit the way you can use the room.
Maximum number of bookings per person
To make sure that lots of people can take advantage of this offer, we will limit the number of bookings per person to 3 sessions (or 9 hours altogether) until the end of the year.
What should you not use the rooms for?
We will ask what activity you’re planning, so we can ensure it’s suitable for the room.
But as a general rule, you should not invite people into the space that you do not know and you should not ask anyone to pay to be in the room with you.
Here are two examples:
- You can have private dance rehearsal.
- But you can’t run a dance class where people you don’t know attend or where anyone pays to attend.
- You can take photos of things you have made so you can sell them online – like on an Etsy store.
- But you can’t take photos in the room that other people pay you for – like a family photo studio.
If you are not sure, please ask.
Risky Activities!
It is very unlikely we will ask for this, but in some cases (where you have a few people in the room, or when the activity has an element of risk) we may ask for a risk assessment or proof of insurance.
Other stuff
You should be over 18.
You must abide by the code of conduct.
Please don’t smoke or vape in the building.
Alcohol, legal highs or drugs should not be brought into in building.
You must not arrive at the your booking inebriated.
