Josie Long

Often described as a unique voice in comedy, Josie Long is one of the most respected comedians of her generation. She started stand-up at age 14 and soon after went on to win the BBC New Comedy Award.

Josie has appeared on multiple TV and Radio shows, including The News Quiz, Just A Minute, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Alternative Comedy Experience, Skins, 8 out of 10 Cats, Drunk History, Russell Howard’s Stand-Up Central, and Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls, as well as Australia’s Thank God You’re Here, and Comedy Central’s @midnight and Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and Hidden America in the US.

Jonny & The Baptists

Musical satirists Jonny & the Baptists – real names Jonny Donahoe & Paddy Gervers – are among the hottest musical comedy acts on the UK scene, regularly appearing on TV, radio, at festivals and most recently a 50-date UK tour of their hit show “Eat The Poor”. From silly songs to satirical anthems, their riotous live blend of comedy and rock gig has won adoring fans across the country.

Jonny & the Baptists have regularly appeared on BBC Radio 4 including The Now Show, The Infinite Monkey Cage, and Sketchorama; and recently appeared on the BBC TV’s Live at Television Centre. They have topped the iTunes comedy chart with single Farage, supported Mark Thomas on tour and appeared at major festivals from Latitude and Kaleidoscope to Tolpuddle Martyrs and Greenbelt.

Sophie Duker

Sophie Duker describes herself as a “sexy-cerebral comedy underdog” and is quickly establishing herself as one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit.

In 2018 Sophie starred in a comedy pilot for Channel 4 called Riot Girls, as well as a new pilot for Comedy Central UK called What I Wish I’d Said.

She is also a comedy writer whose funnies you might have heard in the following places: the British Broadcasting Co-orporation (Famlam, BBC2; The News Quiz, The Now Show, BBC Radio 4) and Cartoon Network (The Amazing World of Gumball).

Access

There are two entrances to the Old Fire Station: 40 George Street via the foyer, and on Gloucester Green via the shop. Both are step-free. If you are coming to a show, we ask that you use the George Street entrance, as the Gloucester Green entrance is not always open.

There is level entry to the foyer of the Old Fire Station, and step-free access to the main Theatre (where most shows take place) and Studio space via lift. All spaces in the building are wheelchair-accessible via lift apart from the Theatre balcony and the Loft. If an event is in the Loft, this will be clearly stated on the event’s web page.

If you are a wheelchair user attending a sit-down show, space will be reserved for you. If you are attending a standing gig, please contact us (call Alex on 01865 263980 or e-mail tickets@oldfirestation.org.uk) and we will talk with you about your needs.

There are six steps leading up to the Loft space. If you would like to discuss hire of the space, or any of the events taking place in the Loft, please get in touch.
