2017 marks 50 years since the partial legalization of abortion in the UK. While one in three women will have an abortion at some point in their lives, research has shown that abortion is still highly stigmatised and shrouded in secrecy. My Body, My Life, a multimedia exhibition, first shown at the Edinburgh Fringe, uses beautiful and imaginative design to create an immersive experience. The main exhibition shares women’s stories in their own words – their experiences, their emotions and their decisions. This exhibition will also enable anyone affected by abortion to contribute their story (anonymously) to the exhibition stands, and to the associated website.
Evening panel discussions and talks will explore issues around abortion. For more information consult the My Body, My Life website: http://mybody-mylife.org/
Exhibition design by The Liminal Space, in partnership with the Open University and the University of Oxford University, with the following collaborators: UCL, the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ulster, BPAS, FPA and Brook.
