Graduating from The University of Brighton in 1996, and having recently completed a masters degree at UAL, Julian has 20 years experience at the coalface of the photographic industry.
In a practice encompassing both artistic and commercial concerns, Julian explores a visual language that rests uncomfortably between fact and fiction: a duality that sets photography’s expectation of veracity against the improbability of the artist’s imagination.
Photography is employed not to reinforce, but to question, challenge and subvert. Thus we are faced with the implausible, the contradictory and the absurd.
As well as being a practitioner, Julian teaches and lectures in photography.
Julian has exhibited in Self Portraits Of Other People (2017) and Dog Photographs (2019).
