Phase 2, session 4, 12 October 2025
The Road to Freedom
Last week Monday, we started the class session by getting into circle and doing some aerobic style warmups. This was great because we were able to get into fitness mode and showcase our keep fit skills and connect as a group.
Polly, our teacher than got us to look at the Freedom Road mapped outlin and we made comments on songs and other questions we had that we wanted to include. This was a reflective journey and opportunity to reconnect with our project with our key player/s/protagonist/s code named ‘Alice’ would be journeying through time to witness and experience freedom in all its guises and pretences.
We then sang a song on Freedom, and we played to the beats with claps and taps to feel the rhythm of the song. We then had a great time to practice the song but we ae not yet on top voice with our ‘freedom chanting voice’ we are yet to reach pitch perfect tuning.
Finallhy we did some great improvisation on the doctor’s surgery
We were grouped into patients in a reduced seating waiting area and we had to adopt a poised posiotn with skillful balance until we could claim our chairs back and have our right to be seen by the doctor. At each point we were given ‘rewards’ or ‘punishments’ to either be seen soone by reaching the next waiting room or if lucky the doctor himself, otherwise if not so lucky, we would be placed back in the first waiting room and take our chances in what was becoming a busy and overcrowed waiting area with limited seats.
Overall, we had a great time my most cherished experience was to be patient and the doctor’s assistant in charge of the wating room movement. I also enjoyed the singing routine, but the claps and taps were overly confusing at times to keep up with and maintain the tune of song at the same time for me, overall, I am keen to have another go at it and become pitch perfect and sing aloud our call to freedom’s road.
