Created by Rawz, a multidisciplinary artist, MC, and poet from Oxford, this mural entitled Bold Lines (italics) centres around his poem Art Starts A Story (italics) which was commissioned by The Old Fire Station as part of the Marmalade Festival in 2024.
The poem is about the winding, confusing, beautiful paths our lives take, and the art that can be found in our shared stories, how art helps us share our stories, how our stories inspire others, and become part of their stories.
Symbolising this journey, the words weave between abstract shapes that fit perfectly together to form a whole, resembling many-sided lives, personalities and stories that form a community.
Each year, The Old Fire Station produces the Marmalade Festival in partnership with the Skoll World Forum. Our aim is to help connect people from around the world with global/local, strategic/grassroots perspectives. Our focus is systems change through the lens of people, power and place.
