Go On – George Bradford
George Bradford is a queer and neurodivergent artist from Oxford. During their MFA at Oxford Brookes University, they explored their relationship with their ASD, ADHD, & OCD and how that linked to their perception and response to faith and religion. In recent months, they have transitioned to more lighthearted work that explores whimsy and fantasy.
My work is an exploration of personal Saints, fantasy, fairytales, tied up with the stunning ribbon of trying to understand my own various neurodivergence and how it impacts my view of the world. Beginning as a way to understand my relationship with being raised Church of England to my contemporary Pagan views, I transitioned to exploring fantasy and fairytale. I took such inspiration from the Saints I saw depicted in the local village churches. I was enthralled with how they communicated so much in such stillness, while also rarely ever looking at me, the viewer. I wanted to channel this stillness into my own work. My work doesn’t seek to to convert in any form, merely to share my experience to give an alternate view point or to provide solidarity with anyone who can relate to my work.
