Ivan Shevchenko: People
???? Old Fire Station Café
???? 16 September – 19 October 2025

We’re delighted to welcome Ivan Shevchenko to our Café exhibition space with their new show, People.

Ivan is a young artist currently in their second year at Oxford City College. Their journey with us began in 2024, when they exhibited as part of a group show with fellow students. Feeling inspired by the experience, Ivan approached our Programme Manager, Amy, about having a solo exhibition — and we’re thrilled to showcase their work across the Café wall this autumn.

All of the paintings on display have been created within the past year. Together, they form a quiet meditation on hope, and more broadly, on what it means to be human. Ivan draws inspiration from the visual language of Ukrainian artist Artur Soletskyi, the minimalist movement, and the bold influence of Andy Warhol.

Alongside the exhibition, visitors are invited to interact with the work by leaving comments, reflections, or even drawings in Ivan’s sketchbook, which is displayed in a holder on the wall. This ongoing dialogue between artist and audience is central to Ivan’s creative approach.
