Submission information
There is no set theme or brief to respond to for this Winter Open – it is truly ‘open’ in that sense, we want to celebrate the work that you are excited to share!
This exhibition will focus on wall-based artworks. For this exhibition we are not accepting submissions of moving image, video works or standalone three-dimensional sculptures. All submitted artworks must be able to hang directly onto a wall. Wall-based artworks can be no larger than 800mm in width, length or 150mm depth (including frame). All works must be delivered ready to hang directly onto nails or with wire or mirror plates (we cannot accept clip frames). Works from an individual artist will not be hung together, and diptychs will be split up and count as a single work each.
We will endeavour to include all artworks submitted to the Winter Open, however, as a public gallery that shares our space with the charity Crisis, we often have vulnerable people in our spaces. For this reason, we cannot include:
- Any works that have graphic violence, explicit, or upsetting themes, or works promoting drug or alcohol use cannot be shown in our galleries.
- Any work containing food or perishable items cannot be submitted.
If you have questions about whether we can show your work in the gallery, please get in touch with us at gallery@oldfirestation.org.uk
In addition, if the gallery judges the work to be inconsistent with our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and at the Exhibition & Workshop Manager’s discretion will not be exhibited.
Hanging & installation of the exhibition
The gallery team will hang the show, and all decisions made by the team about placement of works are final. By submitting your work to this open call, you agree to allow the team at OFS to curate it.
The exhibition labels are created from your submission form; therefore, please ensure you enter the correct information about your work/s.
The Old Fire Station will take professional care handling all artworks, submitting artists should be aware that occasional damage may occur. The Old Fire Station shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, deterioration or wear, including damage to frames.
