Comedy of a sexual nature
How do you makes sense of a world that’s more chaotic than ever? With poetry, of course!
Join Tina Sederholm and her gang of spoken word legends, Chloë Jacquet, Andy H. Melhuish and Clare Bold as they both showcase the best of their work and play silly word games like ‘My lousy teenage poem’. Featuring an extended set from star of the National Theatre, Hollyoaks, and a certain Heinz Tomato ketchup advert, Vera Chok, to celebrate the Oxford launch of her latest collection, Angry Yellow Woman.
Audience participation encouraged but not obligatory. There may, or may not, be prizes.
An inspiring night of witty wordplay and transportive storytelling by slam poetry powerhouses…if I could give this night more stars than five, I would. ***** www.ayoungishperpective.co.uk
FEATURED ARTIST
Vera Chok is an actor, writer and funny person. Having featured in plays at Shakespeare’s Globe, the West End and was part of the original cast for multiple Olivier-winning Chimerica.
She’s had multiple tv roles, most recently as a series regular on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, playing Honour Chen-Williams, and in a certain Ed Sheeran tomato ketchup advert.
There are plenty of other incredible credits to her name, but most of all, Vera is an artistic phenomenon, a riveting stage presence and a disruptive and fearless artist. She was a co-author of seminal work, The Good Immigrant and will be performing from her new poetry collection, Angry Yellow Woman, for the only time in Oxford.
Angry Yellow Woman is outstanding and brilliant, It is unique and unflinching, powerful and moving. This work has a beautiful tenderness and wry humour. I love this book.
